Embassy & Consulates General of Germany

The Federal Republic of Germany maintains four foreign missions in Canada: an Embassy in Ottawa and Consulates General in Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver.
The Embassy is in charge of diplomatic relations between Germany and Canada. All other matters are handled by the Embassy and the three Consulates General according to geographic areas of responsibility (consular districts):
Embassy in Ottawa: Ontario (only the National Capital Region and the following counties: Lanark; Leeds and Grenville; Prescott and Russell; Renfrew; Stormont, Dundas and Glengary), Nunavut. |
Consulate General in Montréal: Québec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island. Please note that in all consular matters (visa, passports, legalization of documents etc.) the Embassy is in charge of the area of responsibilty of the Consulate General in Montréal. |
Consulate General in Toronto: Manitoba, Ontario (outside the area of responsibility of the Embassy in Ottawa). |
Consulate General in Vancouver: Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. |
In addition, there are six Honorary Consuls in Canada: in St. John's (Newfoundland), Halifax, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Prince George (British Columbia).
Important note: Each Consulate General and Honorary Consul offers a different array of services.
