Politics
The political section observes Canadian foreign and domestic policy based on contacts with the Canadian government, parliament, and non-governmental institutions. Likewise, the political section informs Canadian partners and organisations about political developments within Germany and its foreign and European policy

Defence Attaché
The Defence Attaché is Head of the Embassy's Service for Military Affairs. He represents the Federal Minister of Defence in all areas of cooperation with the Canadian armed forces. He also guides German military personnel in Canada and promotes contacts with the German defence industry.

Economics
The economics section promotes economic relations between Germany and Canada. We welcome inquiries and requests for information in all areas of the German economy, as well as of German science and research.
Inquiries regarding assistance for German business in Canada or German companies and products should be directed to the German Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Toronto, Montréal or Vancouver.

Culture and Communication
The culture and communication section handles the Embassy's media contacts. It publishes the website and newsletter, and provides information on German issues. It plans and coordinates German cultural policy in Canada. An important part of its work is supporting German language and German studies, organizing cultural events and promoting exchange programs. In addition, as part of German foreign cultural policy, it supports the activities of the Goethe-Institutes in Canada, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and other long-standing partners and organizations.

Legal and Consular Affairs
Legal and consular work is a traditional task of German foreign missions abroad. The Embassy performs legal and administrative services to German citizens and German authorities seeking its assistance. A major part of its duties is to issue passports to Germans residing in Canada and visas for travel to Germany. Limited legal assistance in other matters is provided as well. Canadian legal issues that are of interest to the German government are analyzed and reported to the Foreign Office in Berlin.

Administration
The administrative section is responsible for the internal organization and management of the Embassy. This includes the Embassy's personnel, budgetary planning, maintenance of the Chancery and the Ambassador's residence, and communication and security needs..
