To mark these concurrent occasions and recognize the achievements of the Drama Centre, Canada, and the inimitable William Shakespeare, the Centre is organizing a gala presentation The Play’s the Thing!
This celebration brings together a panoply of international and national theatre directors long associated with the Drama Centre in a collaborative effort to transform the ground floor of Hart House into a space of sensory delight staged in Shakespearean splendour. The professional talents of Johanna Schall, Herbert Olschok, Katka Schroth, Jean-Jacques Lemêtre, Daniel Brooks, Kate Lynch, Ken Gass, Colin Taylor, Tim Chisholm, Djanet Sears and Rick Miller will join those of renowned Drama Centre alumni and its current students in a presentation of newly imagined Shakespearean scenes and tableaux staged in a festive atmosphere of period musical interludes. The Play’s the Thing will conclude in the Great Hall with a Shakespearean banquet, making the evening a truly unique experience for all of its participants.
Tickets include the performances, dinner, and beverages. All proceeds go to support the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Toronto.
- Tickets may be purchased online at www.tickets.harthouse.ca or by phone at (416) 978-8849.
